Elizabeth Von Arnim

Elizabeth von Arnim was an English-born novelist best known for her witty, insightful novels about society, relationships, and women’s lives. Born Mary Annette Beauchamp in Australia in 1866, she grew up in England and later married a German aristocrat, becoming Countess von Arnim-Schlagenthin.

Throughout her career, von Arnim wrote many popular novels, including The Enchanted April, which tells the story of four English women whose lives are transformed by a holiday in Italy. Her writing is admired for its humor, sharp social observation, and sympathetic portrayal of women seeking independence and happiness.
