Samuel Langhorne Clemens, better known by his pen name, Mark Twain, was an American author who lived during the 19th century. He is most renowned for his novels The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and, later, its sequel, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Twain was raised in Missouri, which, in years to come, provided the setting for aforementioned novels. With reason, he was once described as ‘the father of American literature’ by the American author William Faulkner. His other titles of note are Life on the Mississippi and Innocents Abroad.
